Jessie Tolbert III
Jessie Tolbert III is a first-year grad student here at Florida State University. What most people may not know is that prior to moving to Tallahassee Jessie earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental science. He began a career an Environmental Specialist which he took a position here in Tallahassee working for the Department of Environmental Protection. As a specialist and primary data collector for the State Jessie enjoyed working with the massive amounts of data he collected on daily basis which was used to assess biological populations and conditions of Florida’s most precious natural resource, freshwater. Around the same time, Jessie also begin his first business venture as a co-founder of a small business. Through his involvement with the company Jessie developed a real passion for business and seeking out how one can use data to produce practical solutions to business problems. The experience is what ultimately led him to to a decision to transition from his career as an environmental professional and enroll in the inaugural class for the Master of Science in Business Analytics program here at Florida State University. This is the first time the University has ever offered this program and upon completion Jessie will be among the first class to graduate with this degree. Since beginning the program in the summer of 2018, Jessie has enjoyed academic success at Florida State including becoming an Endowed Scholarship Award recipient. Outside of the classroom Jessie also serves his community and is a member Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc and is a member of the National Black MBA Association.
