Nicholas Clarke

Nicholas Clarke is a doctoral candidate in finance at Florida State University. He is originally from Pensacola, Florida, where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of West Florida. As a doctoral student, Nicholas has enjoyed the opportunity to both research and teach. His research interests are focused on empirical corporate finance, particularly in the areas of corporate governance and payout policy. For example, he has a research paper that examines the role of activist investors in firms’ decisions to conduct open market share repurchases. In the classroom, Nicholas has taught a senior-level course for finance majors that focuses on financial management. He has found it extremely rewarding to interact with students. As a teacher, he hopes to help his students develop critical thinking skills and become better prepared for future careers in finance. Overall, Nicholas has enjoyed his time at FSU and looks forward to the future opportunities his graduate degree will offer.
