Why FSU?
FSU has provided me with endless opportunities to grow as a student, leader, and person. It only felt right that I continued my education here at Florida State.
Motivation to pursue a graduate degree
Many of my mentors encouraged me to continue my education and stressed the importance of always taking the next step. By pursuing a graduate degree, I am able to add more credibility to my name and make an impact in my community.
Importance of graduate degree
Many veterans are naturally entrepreneurs. By achieving a higher education in Business, I can more effectively guide and advise my fellow brothers and sisters.
Describe an aspect of your military service that is especially memorable or exceptional
I believe that every aspect of my military service was impactful. I joined the US Air Force at eighteen years old and was forced to mature rapidly. The hard lessons I learned in those four short years are invaluable. When facing difficult situations, I reflect on the many lessons I learned during deployment to remind myself of the importance of a positive mindset and resiliency.
Tell us how your military service provided skills and experiences that you were able to apply to your graduate studies
Failure was never an option in my career field. One mistake could cost someone their life, so I learned to always put forth my best effort. Although the stakes are much lower in graduate school, I still carry this mindset with me.
Advice for anyone considering graduate school
You will not regret it. Your mind is your greatest asset.
Accomplishments during graduate career
I was recently awarded Veteran of the Month by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This award was presented by the Florida Cabinet consisting of the governor, commissioner, attorney general, and chief financial officer. I also served as president of the FSU Collegiate Veterans Association.
Career aspirations
I hope to enter a career that allows me to always give back to my community and make a positive impact on the world. I believe that student veterans are among our nation’s most valuable assets, and hope to one day be in a position to prove this point on a daily basis.
