Xiaoning Wang is a second-year doctoral student in the Special Education program of Florida State University. She comes from the northern part of China and previously majored in Psychology in both her undergraduate and master’s programs. Her current research focuses on the language and literacy development and social communication intervention for preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Xiaoning has previous volunteer experience of serving preschool-aged migrant children and school-aged left-behind children in non-government organizations and public schools. She also had served preschool children with ASD and developmental delays, and elementary students with ADHD in private institutions. During the time studying at FSU, she’s been involved in research projects about language/social/play skills interventions for children with ASD, and early childhood reading education.

Xiaoning was awarded the Nancy Duran Thomas Scholarship in Early Childhood Special Education, which recognized her efforts in her program and dedication to the education profession. She also has broad academic interests in topics related to educational contexts and school cultures, cultural studies, and linguistics, and hopes to have opportunities in the future to engage in research regarding these topics
