Saptarski Bhowmik
Why FSU?
Saptarshi is working on designing topologies for supercomputers. His work is currently 10 years ahead of its time. His research field is very small and has applications in places that use supercomputers like defense and national laboratories. To that end, Saptarshi recently secured an internship with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Career aspirations
Saptarshi’s future career goals include becoming a master of a small specific domain of knowledge so that he can work later as a skilled professional rather than working in a traditional white-collar job. Another motivation is the salary; a graduate degree supports a higher salary.
Accomplishments during graduate career
Saptarshi has participated in the Congress of Graduate Students (COGS). When asked to give advice to those considering graduate school, Saptarshi said “A few extra years of study will get you many more returns.”
