Kalisa Villafana was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and spent her childhood and adolescent years in Chaguanas, Trinidad. She graduated from Holy Faith Convent, Couva in 2007 where she excelled in the science program. Kalisa then moved to Tallahassee, Florida to pursue her undergraduate degree in Physics at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Upon graduation in 2011, summa cum laude, she decided to continue her education and attend graduate school. She enrolled at Florida State University in Physics in 2012, where she obtained my MS degree in Physics in 2015 and continued working towards her PhD in Experimental Nuclear Physics.
The experimental nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics research programs at FSU are funded by The National Science Foundation, The State of Florida and Florida State University.
