The College of Music has offered a high level of professional education in music for more than 80 years. The College is headquarters to a variety of campus orchestras, bands, choral ensembles, jazz bands, and early music and baroque ensembles; 9 world music ensembles, and numerous chamber groups, as well as the Florida State Opera and the Music Theater Program.
Florida State University has been an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1930.
