Master's in Four Competition (MI4)- Danielle Krusemark | English | GEOSET Research Video | July 25, 2019

Why FSU?

I chose FSU for my graduate education because Ashby Plant, the adviser I interviewed with and would eventually work with, was incredibly warm and welcoming in addition to being an unparalleled expert in the field of prejudice.

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

I pursued a graduate degree because I love the creativity and critical thinking involved in the research process. I knew I wanted to do research for the rest of my life.

Importance of research and work

As the world becomes more interconnected and polarized, it is more important than ever to understand the nature of prejudice and ways of reducing it.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Do not be afraid to take time to consider whether you truly want to take this path. A gap year can be invaluable.

Accomplishments during graduate career

Participating in the Masters in Four Competition; working in the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement; working with other psychology graduate students to establish DiverseFest and the Diverse Psychology Graduate Student Organization!

Career aspirations

After I graduate, I hope to become a researcher at a university or nonprofit organization.

Funding

Funding I received while pursuing my PhD:

  • McKnight Doctoral Fellowship
