Diana Carbonell

Fall 2018 FSU 3MT Finalist Competition | English | Questionnaire | March 4, 2019

Diana Carbonell is a third-year doctoral student studying counseling psychology and school psychology. Early on, Diana knew that she wanted to work in the field of mental health aiming to emphasize the growth potential in survivors rather than highlighting the numerous negative possible outcomes current literature examines. Diana received her Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Florida before receiving her master’s in social work from the University of Southern California. Diana appreciates the balance between her social work and counseling psychology lens when conducting research and working with local community members. Diana strives to pursue work in the federal prison system following graduation in order to better serve inmates who have continuously seen the negative consequences of their surroundings and decisions by reminding them of their potential for growth.
