While studying physics at Austin Peay State University under the President’s Emerging Leaders Scholarship, I had the chance to also study electronics at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall, Sweden. After this experience I decided to pursue a PhD in engineering focusing on the development of a cheaper and more efficient solar device for clean energy applications.

I started at FSU the fall of 2015 pursuing my PhD in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME). Since being here I have worked extensively at the High Performance Materials Institute and Maglab researching flexible and wire-shaped perovskite solar cells under Dr. Okenwa Okoli. Working as both a TA and RA while taking classes, my first year of graduate school was challenging. However, I’m thankful for the experience and now, still TAing IME Senior Design, it has been great seeing students I’ve mentored move into the work force or make their own waves in graduate school. After graduation I’d like to work for a semiconductor company in industry or continue my research focus with a national lab such as NREL or Oak Ridge.
