Dr. Mostafa Papi is an Associate Professor of Foreign and Second Language Education in the School of Teacher Education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Teaching English Language and Literature from the Teacher Training University of Sabzevar, a master’s degree in Teaching English Language and Literature from Iran University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Second Language Studies from Michigan State University. He worked for one year as a Visiting Assistant Professor of TESOL and English Linguistics in the English Department at Mississippi State University before joining Florida State University in Fall 2016. Back in Iran, he taught English courses in public high schools, in private language institutes, and in the Department of English Language and Literature at Lorestan University.
Dr. Papi is interested in the role of learner’s psychology in second language acquisition. More specifically, he studies how learners’ motivation, attitudes, beliefs and personality influence their cognitive, behavior and emotional engagement in the learning process, as well as their learning outcomes and linguistic characteristics.
