William Berry received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota in 1980, teaching at the University of Kentucky before joining FSU in 1990. Berry has been a frequent contributor to major scholarly journals in political science – including American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Politics – serving on the editorial board of the latter two. Berry has been awarded four National Science Foundation grants, and has received career achievement awards from two professional associations: the Policy Studies Organization’s Harold Laswell Award for outstanding contributions to the study of the policy making process, and the American Political Science Association (APSA) State Politics and Policy Organized Section Award for lifetime contributions to the study of politics and policy in the American states. Berry has also served as president of the APSA State Politics and Policy Organized Section.
