Dr. Lili Hurioglu has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University since December 2019. In this role, she provides support for technical aspects of data analysis, data management, and writing research reports for many of the large-scale research projects. The project she is working is on evaluating student’s mathematical achievement and teacher outcomes (i.e., teachers’ mathematical knowledge for teaching, beliefs about math teaching and learning, and anxiety about teaching mathematics as well as levels of cognitive complexity and classroom discourse in mathematics instruction) based on Cognitively Guided Instruction.

Meanwhile, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Turkey, since October 2017. Dr. Hurioglu earned her Ph. D. in Educational Sciences (major in Curriculum and Instruction) from Cukurova University (CU) in Turkey in 2016. She also holds a Master of Science (2010) and a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from Cukurova University (2008).

Dr. Hurioglu started her career as a research and teaching assistant at Çukurova University, School of Education, and served there from 2008-2016. During this period, she provided training for women who were living in prison with their young children. This training was designed for women to understand young children’s developmental characteristics and support them to manage time with their children while in prison. In 2016–2017 she worked as an assistant professor at Bahcesehir University (BAU) School of Educational Sciences, Department of the Preschool Education. In 2017, Dr. Lili Hurioglu accepted a position as an assistant professor at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa (IUC), School of Education, Department of Curriculum and Instruction. In this role, she taught graduate and undergraduate courses, such as Teaching Methods and Principles, Measurement and Evaluation, Classroom Management, Teaching Experience, Qualitative Research Methods, and Quantitative Research Methods and conducted research projects.

Dr. Hurioglu is the co-editor and one of the ten authors of the book Teaching Methods and Principles. She also served as a reviewer for academic journals, such as Asia Pacific Education Review, Teachers College Records, Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment (JPA), Journal of Abnormal Psychology, and Psychological Reports.
