Dotan Haim’s research focuses primarily on conflict and social networks, especially within in Southeast Asia. Haim uses a combination of large-scale social network analysis and randomized field experiments to examine how counterinsurgency and policing can hinge on the nature of the social ties between civilians, government security forces, and local politicians. His work is published or forthcoming in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Journal of Experimental Science, Journal of Peace Research, Nature’s Scientific Reports, and Network Science. His work has also been supported by the UNDP, EGAP’s Metaketa IV Initiative, IPA Peace and Recovery, and the Smith Richardson Foundation, among others.
