Granny’s Garden: Growing Black Joy | Chris Omni | TEDxFSU | English | May 19, 2022

Chris Omni is a Black Joy scholar, artist, and activist. She is also an FSU Provost Postdoctoral Scholar, two-timeTEDx speaker, three-time First Place 3-MT (3-Minute Thesis) Winner, Black women’s health researcher, published author, documentary filmmaker, internationally recognized nature writer and presenter, community mobilizer, and former health motivation columnist. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in human services and two master’s degrees – Public Health and Liberal Arts. Chris is a doctoral candidate at Florida State University where she is researching Black Joy in Green Spaces through the methodology of endarkened, visual narrative inquiry while utilizing the methods of walking, photography, and journal writing.  When Chris is not operating in her academic or community spaces, you can find her nurturing one of her 60+ “green kids” in one of her three healing gardens.
